Rosters are Finalized/I was right about everything

As the Sox finalized the opening day roster today, I am proven correct that the Sox would select Jayson Nix over Brent Lillibridge, and am vindicated in not knowing who two other guys even were.  Read further and see if I can remember their names after the jump.

Utilityman Jayson Nix once again beats out Brent Lillibridge for the final roster spot for the second year in a row.  I offered the Devil's Advocate argument of Lillibridge as the 25th guy on the notion that the final guy in the dugout will be primarily used as a pinch-runner and Lillibridge is faster.  However, this argument depends on 43 year old Omar Vizquel being the only viable backup middle infielder (Sometimes old people sneak up on you and become completely useless when you're not paying attention), ignores the possibility that Teahen could have a complete meltdown and be benched by June (Lillibridge starting at 3B = Moon colliding with Earth), and overlooks the fact that Nix is not much slower and served as a pinch-runner on multiple occasions.  So the Sox understandably went with the guy who provided versatility, infield depth, and is capable of hitting the ball out of the infield.  Or maybe they cut Lillibridge because he looks like he's 12.

The ears, they do not lie.

Alejandro De Aza was optioned for AAA Charlotte, completely justifying me not knowing who the hell he was. Jared Mitchell and Jordan Danks have been spoke of in terms of outfielders of the future, and with Jones and Kotsay both ready to step into for immediate playing time, I can't see De Aza on the field unless Quentin, Pierre, and Rios all pack themselves in the same car and drive it off Dead Man's Curve.  Expect to see him packaged in a trade for the middle relief help we need because Scott Linebrink is soooooo terrible.

Sergio Santos was indeed named the final reliever over Daniel Hudson.  I am further vindicated for being confused on Santos because apparently he was that crappy infielder we had last year.  Apparently management would rather send Daniel Hudson back to the minors to develop as a starter than see if he'd be a slightly better reliever than Santos, rationalizing correctly that if we're serious depending on either of them, then we're really fucked.

That one ain't comin' back, Scott
